Now the Fox

Now the fox has lost her fir
she's a nightmare animal wandering the dusk
searching sewers for water
no kits in sight
she is mostly grey skin now
haunted eyes
haunted
we place large shallow bowls of water
at property end
food scraps and dog food
hoping she'll survive the drought
the kits are gone

Thanks for commenting on my blog, This poem is so touching for any animal lover to read, I have a little cat, that was found wandering in the forest, lost alone and frightened and hungry, someone dumped her there more than likely, but she has a home with me now, you have a way of capturig life in your writing that is very beautiful, well done.. Love Constance

A sad and somewhat depressing poem. You bring a lot of emotion into this just by describing her. Great work. Love Destiny
