Listen to poem:
I understand that in your mindset
You think you’re entitled to judge me
Though you know nothing of my life
My youth is gone and spent
I couldn't solve the problems of the world
I don't think I even made a dent
I loved those who surrounded me
In whatever way I could
I'm a woman so it was in my nature
I catered to a million bosses
I'm exhausted yes it's true but now
It’s finally time I listen to the boss within
How much time I have
I guess I’ll never know but
I’m aiming to savor every single minute
I'm a creator first and foremost
And while I see the end approaching
I still have so much more to say
So forgive me if I cut you off
Or if I don't sound interested
It’s just that precious time is fleeting
I won’t engage when talking politics
I've heard enough about injustices
To last me a couple lifetimes
I’ve earned the right to sit back
Let others step up and try their utmost
To solve the travesties of the world
I'm getting old and time for me is ticking
I may be selfish but what time I may have left
Is mine to focus on creating
