Now Or Never

Our marriage was a sham, We fought and argued all the time There was no love lost between us We were like train tracks going parallel in the same direction yet merging nowhere, We were at each other's throats. Finally, I had had it enough-- I caught hold of her arm dragged her through the hallway, Threw her out of our home And slammed the door shut. For a long time I leaned against the door holding my breath in a grip of terrible concern, But finally breathed a sigh of relief; Good riddance! That's it. No more... I heard a soft knock I am sorry, let me in, She cried softly. “No, absolutely Not,” I barked, “I am not taking it no more.” Please, give me another chance, I'll make our marriage work. Please open the door “NO!” I...I...LOVE...You!.... ............................ ...And I opened the door! ~06/20/2015 ~For "And Then I opened That door" contest by John Lawless

Abdul, I hope the words that were the "key" to the opening of the door are golden. This poem grabbed me from the start. My wife and I will be married 39 years this week and as with all love based relationships the waters are not always calm. Nicely done poetic storytelling. thanks for entering the contest.
