Now and Then

“Woe to those who call evil good and good evil,
who put darkness for light and light for darkness,
who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter. “
                                                             Isaiah 5:20

The state of modern times sheds a dim light
on what is now considered wrong or right.
The present times provide much less insight
to know a right from self-assigned delight-
or what is best now to support or fight?
The world has morphed into a different one
for what is now considered wrong or right.
How simple those days were where I came from.

Old-fashioned values seemed to disappear,
replaced by modern ones that seem less clear.
What was taboo is now approved, with cheer.
What was approved- dismissed as old frontier.
Past times supplied a logic more sincere
on standards made, not knowing they would be
replaced by modern ones that seem less clear.
How simple were the days that molded me.

Congrats Sandra-- I like the ending and like you, I'm not sure where we are heading but I fear for the future of my younger family members.
