Nova Moon

We danced away to music by its light but with a gasp, it ended all too soon, her pallid breath, forsaken by the night, as lovers swayed beneath the nova moon. Her lot, though grave, had taken to the mend as prayers, in whisper, pled to the Divine, one breath of hope held tethered to the wind but death blew through and broke the fragile twine. And now my soul lies swallowed in the fold of silent pain that follows in its wake, a daunting fog is all that I behold for of her touch, no longer I partake. And as I wonder back into our past so filled with sweeter days of feral wine, where once I thought our dance would always last, now ghostly shades of ebony resign. The morning sun has faded to a hint of what was once a glorious arise, but now I gaze behind a muddled glint of tepid beams that faded in reprise. But as each eve is dampened by the dew your vernal vison whispers in allure, for when I sleep, you whirl into my view to softly dance within my dreams obscure. By verge of dusk where all perception wanes, and sallow rays benight the sylvan dale, vague shadows ebb where morning mist remains then fade into a dense primeval veil. Though days grow dim the jaded sunlight beams through clouded haze where visions still convey, it’s there where I shall find you in my dreams, beneath the nova moon where lovers sway.

This piece is hauntingly gorgeous. Art born from pain that cuts the reader's heart and then bathes it anew with stunning metaphors and beautiful words. I really felt this one, Mark. I do hope you find peace and solace.

Mark, dear friend and esteemed poet, your tender, grief-filled verse of lost love, memory and longing is expressed with rhythmic beauty and rhyming finesse. Especially poignant is "for when I sleep, you whirl into my view/to softly dance within my dreams obscure" - dreams so bittersweet.. but where you both still dance. Transcendent love. Deep, rich, emotive poetry my talented friend! Warmest wishes.. ~Susan

You're so good with meter Mark. More importantly, this sad rhymer tugs at the heart with its theme of love and loss. I really wish you interacted more, your poetry deserves a wider audience

PS, I see what you're trying to do with that last line. If you eliminate the word dancing your meter is restored but the meaning is not lost since you have the word sway in there. Either way it's awesome
