Nothings They Wish For Me

Nothings they wish for me,
No dreams, no hopes, no destiny,
Just a life that's safe and sound,
In a world where nothing's ever found.

I see it in their eyes, their face,
A fear that holds me in its embrace,
That I might strive, or reach too high,
That I might fail, or even die.

They want what's easy, what's secure,
A life that's steady, stable, and pure,
Not the kind that's filled with risk,
That requires courage, strength, and risk.

But oh, how I wish to soar,
To find the things I'm searching for,
To chase my dreams with all my might,
To live a life that's full of light.

So I'll keep striving, hoping, praying,
That someday I'll find my way,
That I'll discover what I seek,
And my soul will finally feel complete.
