Not So Great Pumpkin
An unfruitful fruit A work of darkness masquerading as kiddy lights This monstrous melon is a death’s head a desire of a foolish dead fire Reminiscent of the cruel druid’s witchery where the lighted skull and heads of enemies are displayed on walls and doors as if they could catch a soul and bake it in the sun the old un, leading children away into the dark like a will-o'-the-wisp Hiding in plain sight a garden goblin with glowing hollow eyes A heal grabber dragging them into the darkness of night with its false lights and evil grin drawing the children in like they did then looking for a human sacrifice In which they hope they do not return from the black harvest of the spiritually unknown Where good little straw boys and girls march the winters king to the burning man turning them into fearful little sack men and women An unholy flame wick wicked wicker wickedest The coco nut laughs and Halloween chants drown out The burning screams wrapped in the flames It is have, no fellowship with unfruitful works of darkness Not adopt a jack-o'-lantern to lead a dark path So go ahead smash the pumpkin is not so great
