Not My Thoughts

When I close my eyes to meditate thoughts flooding and unyielding I see with my inner eye the monkey mind an incessant flurry worry about worry You can tame your mind separate the observer from the observed two mindful parts of you You are not your thoughts notice then surrender resist certainty throwdown anxiety Intently focus your breath settle into self true presence is not in thoughts Forget the allure of grasping commit to ever practicing let perfection be gone greet chaos headon Live the ah ha moment some inner peace is yours relax then let go move to the light

Dear Greg, I am enraptured by the meditative spirit of your uplifting poem. Indeed, we are not our thoughts. A profound piece, I especially celebrate the brilliance of your last impactful stanza for a grand finale. Simply superb! Congratulations for your excellent win in Seeker's contest. Warmest wishes.. ~Susan

So great to hear from you Susan. Congrats as well on your entry. This poem did offer some help to meditators to see that they are not their thoughts, a common point of confusion in meditation. Namaste dear poet.
