Not My Pen For the Drum

Do all the words that I've turned;
Define me to all the enemies I've earned?
Peacefully, as I ponder this
Atrocities trade the pen for the fist
Or is the real lesson to be learned?
Those words are for everyone to be openly discerned
Once again, my poet and poetess friends
A keyboard and the flick of a wrist have penned
A question with no clear answer, only open-ended
My answer is that human decency will not succumb
Never will I sheath my pen for the drum
