Not Me

Gone without notice.
Shocking everyone
But me.

Gone without preparation.
Angering the family.
But not me.

Gone before they said “I love you.”
Sorrow surrounds the others.
But not me.

A most effective polarity. I love that you don't explain the details. Lets the reader do some of the work. Many of us can relate because of that very reason.

Once again: spare the words and increase the effect (as Line might say). This one moves me (and other readers too, I imagine) greatly, AND the "but me/but not me" lines are open to several different interpretations. Bravo, poet! :) gw

People deal with loss in so many different ways, it makes us who we are. Tom
