Not Love

Your love is sweet, kind and caring
your love is sharing fun and daring

Your love is not like sand or dirt
but it can really truly hurt

You knocked on my door and I let you in
how did it start, well let me begin
I stand there staring at the back of your head
wondering who this person could be

Hoping you'll notice, that I noticed you
hoping I'll notice , you noticed me too

I turn around slowly to walk away
only to hear you whisper, hey hey

I respond with shyness, silliness and fear
to question if your motives and actions were clear
are you talking to me I ask, and put on my mask

You asked me my name as I asked you yours
my body is tense with cut open pores

I waited and waited , till you came along
tell me it's right or tell me it's wrong
4 weeks I saw you, 4 days I called you
4 nights I had you, come again
I'm glad to

I care about you deeply, why won't you believe me
I see you like a turledove
I like you boy, but like not love

I'm sorry you're hurt, truly I am
you are my mister and I am your mam

I really want you, truly I do
can't make this decision
not old enough to

Maybe someday, in time I'll love you
but baby right now, it's really to soon

Remember me boy, for I am still here
I really do care
to the all those above, and no it's Not Love..

It is always better to be sure than to rush in! Excellent poem! It is not an easy thing to do to let someone down when you care about their feelings. Very well said. Thank you for your thoughtful comment. Love, Robin

Love is a pure thing, but if you aren't ready you aren't ready, and if he really loves you, then he should be willing to wait. Great poem. ~Jen~
