Not Just a House, But a Home

It seems like only yesterday
My home was filled with activity,
Laughter, quarreling and lots of love.
Just as life should be.

I look around and see yesteryears
Of scuffed floors and marked up walls,
Telling a story of lives being lived.
My children's ebbs and flows of life-

Dirty faces, begging to be chased,
Sticky fingers, grass stained knees,
Floor picnics on rainy days,
Wiping tears and snotty noses,
Breaking up many small feuds,
And with my arms stretched out wide,
I'd show them how I love them more.

Dare I say, kids grow up way too fast.
Before you know it they've left the nest.
But inside their hearts where love should grow,
They will make not just a house, but a home.

This is a perfect image of what a true Home is my friend! Full of life and activity, the youth of yesteryear all parading about the house, that is part of a lovely past! That is what makes it a home, just remember, this is still their Home, no matter where they go, this will always be their Home to remember! Whenever they come back to visit, this is their Home, where they still feel loved and full of warm memories! This is a wonderful poem Connie, and remember that its still Home! Great Work!!

Russell thank you for your inspiring comment. What I meant in the last two lines is children given the love of home will grow, move out and start their own home and memories of their adult lives, like their parents have. Warm Smiles, Connie.
