Notes About The Poem

Not Friends

Not Friends

It has been longer than…
a year,
and you
never called.
Not that I thought,
you would.
I know you better,
than you know yourself.

You yelled at me,
and called me names…
back then.

Not now.
Not anymore.
I guess,
I was giving you,
a moment.
Our long years
together…
make that a kindness.
That does not mean,
I want to be hurt again.

You have no depth of field.
You are a weapon in motion,
that wields its self upon others,
asked or not.
I prefer to be free,
and live beyond the reach
of hard ammo thrown
carelessly,
senselessly,
at
your
will.

I told my friend she lost weight. She was very upset in the middle of a divorce. She smiled and said ty. She said only ten pounds. I said... no 230 pounds... and one less child(220 pound and spoiled)all baby fat... She beamed... ty... had not thought that... but she walked a bit lighter... I noticed... he was very abusive and threatening... I watched. Hugs for your day. Ann
