Not Casual

When we met I tried to kiss you
Knowing less than I thought I knew
A little restraining chaste hand
Showed me something you would not do

I was sure that little kiss would land
I vainly thought I was the man
But your smile told me even then
I had to find a longer plan

I had to figure how and when
I could try to be with you then
Engraving you in my mind
As more than a casual friend

You were smart and pretty and kind
Your charisma strong and sublime
You knew I would be yours in time
You knew I would be yours in time
