Notes About The Poem

Listen to poem:

Not All Butterflies Alike

i have it here for safekeeping
the epitome of your life’s work
the crown jewel
the holy grail

a little butterfly

barely a teenager
the first workshop project
held in your hands
sanded
caressed
polished
for hours and hours

dedication
focus and determination
you had a vision
to transform a lifeless piece of wood
into the silky smooth finish
with
devotion
drive
ambition
passion

it’s only a butterfly
i think not
you gave it life
it’s got soul
a flavor of eternity
instilling the qualities
of how you lived your life
this butterfly lives on

How beautiful Line that you have Dennis' carved butterfly, something as you say he held and made all those years ago ~ a cherished memory indeed. Take care my friend with love and hugs Ann xx
