Nostalgic For 'Dark Shadows'

In a world of make believe Inside my T.V. screen I was mesmerized by a show, The likes I'd never seen. Barnabas, Quentin and Angelique; Inhabitants of Collinsport, Maine Lived a life like no others. To miss it caused me pain. This tale of a heartbroken vampire And the witch obssessed with he Held me enthralled for years, Their lives unfolding in my T.V. Long before "Vampire Diaries", Long before the movie "Twilight", Barnabas Collins was the man Who walked as a vampire by night. It's been over forty years since The Collins family came daily to call. Of all the shows I saw in my youth Dark Shadows was the best of them all. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ By Francine Roberts 12/01/2012 for Michael Falotico's 'Rhyme Me an Old T.V. Hey, birthday buddy, I almost chose this show too. Every afternoon I would come home from school and see the continuing saga of Barnabas Collins. He was kinder and gentler than the vampires we see on TV today. Can't wait to see Johnny Depp play Barnabas. I hadn't heard about this. Excellent write! Congratulations on your win. Love, Carolyn

I loved this show! Several years ago the Sci-Fi channel ran reruns of it 5 days a week. I worked days and my husband worked nights and I insisted he tape each days episodes. Heaven help him if he forgot! Best wishes in the contest. Love, Kim

I got into it a little late so did not have such a hard time when it went off the air. GREAT choice to write on , Francine. Did you hear this is THE last week for OLTL? I have been loyal to it since the 70's!!! Some of the old gang will be going on over to General Hospital I hear. Now I will end up being addicted to THAT one. Thanks for my win in your contest. Good luck in this contest on tv shows.

Your fellow Canadian Jonathan Frid made the show number one on daytime television back in 1966. I used to run home from school to see each episode. Good write, Francine. And thank you for pointing out my inadvertent omission in my entry for your latest contest.
