You are a true poet. What a remarkably evocative final line - "the unbearable balm of wounded cellos." Images so original like "stony pillows." May your poetic pen keep its flourish.

Appreciated. I have a musical background and I have dabbled with theatre in the past. I think that it helps with creating poetry. I tend to experience a lot of my pieces in a multi-dimensional way. Sometimes one or more senses might be predominant. Whatever those feelings and sensations are, I then try to use the best possible words to capture them as closely as possible.

interesting, unique phrases (wounded cellos). I see that sad trajectory.

I like to mix it up. Sometimes, it works. Originally, I thought about violins ... but somehow thinking about the cello's timbre (more sonorous and not as jarring as the violin) I felt it would work better for the mood.

Thanks for your feedback. It was inspired by Rick Parise's prompt. I think I will put that in the writer's notes now.
