Notes About The Poem

Northern Lights, Explained: What They Are and How to See Them

Northern Borealis

The illustrative sky painter,
Draping celestial seascapes,
Aurora, the nighttime dancer,
Stream across the penumbra stars,
A spectral emerald curtain,
Whispering cosmic enigmas,
A scintillating, breath-filled awe,
The North’s energetic spirit.

Dear William, truly the Aurora Borealis is a mystical enigma of electric energy and a reflection of the "North's spirit! - the gift of beauty in the cold barrenness of winter. Congratulations on your win, dear friend! Blessings of Aloha to you.

Awe-inspiring for a kid in the ’60s, living in Maine, only there and nowhere else, the tropics don’t help.
