Noah's Flood

They said, “Never!”, as Noah announced the incredulous. Noah said, “It’s going to rain”, to all who would listen. They shouted in unison, “Never has it been, nor ever shall it be! Water comes from creeks, ponds, rivers, and from the sea. Our crops are nourished by dew, and mists rising from below” They continued to say, “Why trouble us? We must persist in our familiar ways as we from day to day, shuffle to and fro”. If lessons are not learned from history and heeded, we shall but be rewarded with servings from the past, as history is repeated. A destruction from a deluge? Not to worry. A rush to the mountains? Not to hurry. Heed the warning; live to tell the story. Never shall we be inundated by the likes of Noah’s flood. But surely, we cannot escape some other pain, if we should fail to change. The world is pleading and longing to be rearranged. We are dangling in the wind; in the balances we hang. In time, we shall revive and be restored. After diminished civility, and much sadness, we shall remember the songs we once sang. 05242015 (8292016PS Contest, Deluge)
