No Wings To Fly

"My pen drips of sorrow and on this paper, I write each tear I promised not think of you that way.. But in my dreams your smile haunts my day.. From coffee to dinner I'm free to play.. But late at night I hear the words I couldn't say.. If you only knew how my life is wrapped up in two.. But maybe then you would have stayed and not flew.. The wonders of love and pain are walking hand and hand.. But I'm not content to be a lost pebble in the sand.. I scribble on a paper what is etched in stone in my heart.. But my words don't have wings to fly , so for now we stay apart..

This is such a heartfelt piece, Michael-- I sure hope that your friend could read this; that last couplet was just the perfect way to end this, hopefully though your words do grow wings some day? Hugs to you and heehee sorry for confusing you with that poem, oops! Thank you for the title suggestion :D

Your words do fly, Michael, right into readers' hearts. The longing of missing someone and the "what ifs" come through beautifully in your poem. I hope your "old friend" sees this. Love and blessings, Carolyn
