No Trust In Words of Man
Things that are promised
Are never for sure
Days out there, in the world
We don’t get past the door
I swear, I promise, doesn’t mean a thing
These old, faded sayings have a sour ring
For there is no trust in the words of man
Quick spurts and fake steam, water in a pan
A magic trick, pure and simple, to distract the eye
An everyday person is sure to comply
But me, I have learned, I know better now
To resist believing, temptation, I wish I knew how
For I place trust, in the word of a liar
I always get burned, when I play with this fire
I must learn to doubt, to question and such
But I never believed, ones I once loved could hurt me this much
Now I’m through trusting, unheedingly so
I’ve found the key, the secrets, others don’t know
I never quite knew, just who to believe
So I trusted them all, and now no one, I seethe
It only took one, to pit me against all of mankind
That space in the middle is something I must find.
