Guilt without sex
This poem's neither Haiku nor Quatrain or Villanelle
It may rhyme or it may not like free verse, so what the hell
when hope is crushed with the sight of dark dawn rising
I turn and call in vain for sleep's embrace.
I pause
Since I am sometimes not too bright
and an answer is not yet in sight
if an apple a day
keeps the doctor away
then what can a pear do at night?
