No One Can Replace You

You left us John, yet life goes on You left too soon, unhealing wound My brother, Though cousin; Closest to me In our childhood home, Torn from our tree Could you have known The heartache you'd sown No one can replace you John In the eight years that you've Been gone Remembering you, and hearing A song The world spins, Time moves along Poet, deep heart, brother mine We breathe, we live No, we're not fine Your pain was deep and traceable You knew you were Irreplaceable Now your widows picked up the pieces Her shattered heart loves again, though Her pain never ceases How we've longed to see your face Your gone: cannot be replaced The world spins, and life goes on But you are SO missed brother John

Hugs to you Jennifer, thank you for your heartfelt comment. His loss, as is the incredible loss of anyone experiencing such pain as he felt, and then taking away the precious gift of one's own life. Each person is a precious irreplaceable unique self and taking that route of exit is simply earth shattering, an explosion of grief on everyone left. I just pray others suffering from the cruel disease of depression will hold on, hold on and let the dread mood pass, there is hope when there is life.

Heidi, I'm so sorry that you can relate to this depth of pain, I wish nobody else did. The saddest, and most horrible thing is, many people are suffering with the grim darkness of horrible depression. When they give in to the reaper, their pain explodes onto others lives, a spiritual assault on others joy and lives that cannot really heal. I'm praying for you as well as others on my comments who know the depth. God bless you Heidi <3 Hugs to you my friend. ~BJ

Thank you, Mystic Rose, for your kind words and visit. We were separated as children, of course he bore the brunt of the pain. Our visits ebbed then stopped. We hadn't seen him from 1968-1975, and then at nineteen years old, he pretty well vanished from our lives. He came back with his wife over three decades later, such joy! There was so much to catch up on. The happy joy of having my big brother back again for the rest of our lives was broken. I just hope others can hold on somehow through their pain. and get help and find healing.

wow, he is REALLY missed. I cannot even muster this much emotion for my dad who passed away three years ago. When you grow up without a person really in your life, they are missed but not in this incredible way. This is really lovely poetry.

Hi Andrea my sweet friend, yes, but strangely, he was not in my life for many years. He lived with us since a newborn when his mama died, but at five and a half his dad remarried, and he became an only child (He had been the 5th in our family, I the 6th). I wrote a poem about him last year, it is called Memories and Tears, it explains things better. Thank you for your visit and comment <3 ~BJ

Your words tug the heart, BJ. Pain emanates from your poem and your love for him resonates in his memories. It's so hard on those who survive the death of a beloved.

Thank you for stopping by Vijay, yes I loved him, he lived with our family from the time his mama died when he was a newborn baby. When I was born, he was my big brother, closest in age to me. When his dad remarried he took John to live with his new wife, and our visits slowed over the ensuing years, He was very broken, and hurt. I wrote a poem about him last year, memories and Tears. My heart aches for him. Sometimes it just hits worse, a memory, a song triggers.

I feel the sense of loss you experience in all its intensity ! Some people leave a void when they leave which can never ever be filled .Though the world will move on as before, for the bereaved ones life will never be the same ! I share your grief and pray for John!

It was a tragic loss. I know depression is a terrible oppression, he couldn't shake it on his own. He stopped taking his medicine that had helped him, returned to his alcohol, and then, on a bad night, he took his life. He forgot that though there are terrible days, if he could hold on through it, seek help, we'd still have him. I shared this not only in his memory, but in hopes people will just hold on. Each person is irreplaceable <3 God bless you Valsa ~BJ
