No Offense -But
No Offense - But
you take offense
to what I say
tell me I cannot say it
I take offence
to your offense
you say Oh, No!!
that’s our defense
we find your words
just too intense
they make….
you know….
just too much sense
we find your gaze
just so intrusive
a lingering look
oh how abusive
your voice…
please keep it to a hush
lest fragile egos
you might crush
perhaps you should
just go away
you’re old
you’ve sadly
had your day
we take offense
to creaking bones
arthritic fingers
gnarled “flip phones”
we’ll raise our kids
without a lap
we’ll simply download
a parenting app
for we’ve been taught
that you are weak
and shouldn’t be
allowed to speak
for if you started
making sense
we’d have to stop
taking offense
