“Hi Sexy”, I said to The giant beaked black emu; The next thing I recall, Big yellow beak heading At me, full speed ahead And I quickly stepped back. Stalled claws gripped the ground; Halting bird staring; Obsidian eyes Screamed in confusion; Rejected big bird emu; Approached slowly. I held out seeds, His feelings hurt; Still, he ate them. We remained Friendly and A few more Seeds he Partook; Dined.

G'day M.L. … your poem really does have the shape of an emu's head and beak as it faces you. You certainly did the right thing as an emu doesn't take kindly to being ignored and when you eat it believes you're taking food out of it's mouth. thank you M.L., I enjoyed - Lindsay

Thanks Lindsay; I figured if its beak hit me between the eyes, it would pretty much, put a hole through my entire face; of course, the poor bird was just being friendly.

A true story; glad you enjoyed it enough to "Fav"; but really, don't ever say that to an emu...They have beaks bigger than the human head and it can be terrifying when it's headed towards your face. Thanks so much.
