"feral felines licking paws" - I love this; I can visualize it easily - seeing them congratulating each other after a squirrel feed.

I saw two squirrels in my dogwood tree yesterday. Then, that same damn cat this morning back in my yard. Run, squirrels, run!

Speaking from personal experience here L.M.H Because of urbanization we are currently infested with grey squirrels they have scratched through the mortar and the roof tiles to get inside my loft and turned my house into their home beside the pigeon nest Unfortunately they are technically vermin and i now also have a garden full of cat's laying in wait licking paws. Im also now distraught being kept awake by them scratching at 2 o'clock at night

I hear you, Christopher, and I know they can be a big problem in urban areas. I live in a small town; and, believe me, the feral cats keep the squirrel population at a minimum. Thanks for your read and for your thoughtful comments on my piece.

We have bunches of squirrels in our neighborhood, they are so much fun to watch, I'd be devastated if they were gone!

Good, Michelle. Believe it or not, I saw two squirrels playing in the dogwood tree in my front yard this afternoon, so all is not lost! Thanks for your read.

Joy and sorrow are interwoven in that, tragically, beautiful creation of yours, my dearest friend, L MILTON. Blessings!

Thanks, Demetrios. I loved those little rodents. It was such fun to watch them romp and cavort in my backyard. Now the squirrels AND the cats are gone!
