No Longer a Burden

It is said that letting go
can be the hardest thing

The part-time lovers,
corrupted friends,
pastime lovers and
incomplete bondings
holding final piece until the end

But I
embrace gratitude

For I have come to terms
that some will never come to terms

Their self dignity become suicidal tendency
grasping the breath of me
drowning in river Styx;
abundant dependency

Green coated envy
with lashes of solidarity;
tasting entrapment
as their new found hobby

As they let go
by digging trenches to nowhere

Mud slinging recollected teardrops
dripping invalidated errors

And I
should cry
these burdens

I should cry

I should

But these tears
know better

Awesome! I try to be unique as I can. And, by unique, I mean having impact. :) Not like, "oh this was 'unique'", which they really meant "not a poem". lol Thanks so much, again, Shirley!!!!

"For I have come to terms that some will never come to terms"... what a statement that is! I get this feeling sometimes... I just wanna force people to see the light of things... but some just won't budge (square pegs, round holes... just wasn't meant to be). Still yet to find a poet on this site (or anywhere, really) that is reminiscent of this style... you are uniquely you :) Loved this piece!

You are truly something else, sir. I am truly grateful for your two cents on my work. You appreciate the oddities. I couldn't ask for much more than that. :) Yeah, I got rid of the square pegs moons ago. Still seems like yesterday, though. Thanks so much, Tim! :)

Sometimes it takes tears to find out what's better. Such a neat ending; it spoke volumes to me!

So many folks ARE stuck in a rut of their own self pity...it is such awareness when the shades have been removed and we fully realize that WE are in the driver's seat. It is so good to read from your work again. Happy Holidays, Gwendolen
