Notes About The Poem

For  'The last page was-is missing' Poetry Contest of John Lawless

No Last Page??

I am reading about a poor chap,
by a killer led into a trap.
I’ve been biting my nails
at the ending’s details,
but the last page is missing. Oh, crap!

Whether it's a mystery book missing its final pages or an unresolved situation in real life, build-up without a proper ending leaves us in an uncomfortable, jarring state of suspense. To me, your poem suggests that the best way to handle life's minor disappointments is through humor and shared amusement.

The disappointment at the end on seeing the final page missing especially of a crime story or thriller is so natural. Congratulations Andrea on your first place win.

Right?! I was reading a book, once, and pages were missing towards the end! I get it! Great lim, my friend!

Andrea, this limerick nails the humor with its twist ending. It keeps things light and entertaining. Cleverly crafted

Dear Andrea, that panic is so real! There is genuinely nothing worse than gripping a mystery right at the climax, only to realize a page is straight-up gone. I liked that frantic, nail-biting suspense of a cliffhanger, and shouting "oh, crap!" at the missing conclusion is the only correct reaction to such a tragedy. Lol! Blessings, Daniel
