No Happy Ending

The gift of time passes,
With my only true love.
His heart beats with another,
Yet , gently
With no harm,
This love grows for me alone.
Still warm, trusting, healing.
A happy ending is not what I need,
Nor what I want from the call.
What I need from this truest of loves...

Is no ending at all.

The depth of his eyes in my sight,
The musical tones in his voice,
His ways of empathy
Will comfort me
For my eternity alone.

I like your poem and title Ruby, In my case no ending at all did not happen, but deep inside i always sensed it would end badly, you made me ponder over this one, blessings, Carl
