No Graveyards In the Mind

Yes, yes, his siblings are long deceased though there are no graveyards in the mind He relives their quarrels each night in dreams struggling, in vain, to flee nightmares unkind By day, his two sisters whimper, one in each ear by night, their fury they roar, magnifying his fears... No, no, there aren't any graveyards in the mind just brows deeply furrowed, faces etched with lines

Siblings are inalienable in each one's life. Though they are gone, their memories delight and trouble us. Some of them leave only painful memories behind.. It is indeed sad. I see a dash of humour in your lines.

I no longer play the old scripts; they did not serve me well, held me back a lot longer than I should have been held back.

“Graveyards in the mind”……I like that… somewhat haunting!. Old relationships can also bring so much comfort. Nice poem Mr Wolf! Debx

Interesting how religion has focused on spooks rather than graveyards from which the resurrected may rise . . . . .

Not surprising to me: Spooks are money, and isn't that what the business of 'Religion,' Capital R, is all about?

And when you get to heaven they'll ask "how did YOU get here??"

Fine couplets, Gershon. Interesting how we do relive those relationships in our past, long after the principals are gone, in many cases. Liked your poem.

Indeed, old relationships do not seem to fade away. Many play over and over again in our minds and dreams. :) gw
