Author's Notes:  This is a topical theme I chose to address concerning the concept of fear in each of our lives.  Fear is very much an inescapable aspect of the human experience.  It is often both a practical and philosophical reality that all of us, at one time or another, in our respective lives must deal with and face up to. My attempt here is to render a pleasant-sounding poetic view of this particular subject.  This write is indeed one worth pondering.  (Gary Bateman - October 10, 2014) (Rhyme Royal in Iambic Pentameter)

Categories:  allegory, analogy, emotions, fear, imagery, metaphor, poetry.

The technical parameters of this Rhyme Royal are rendered as follows:

Syllables Per Line:  10

Total # Syllables:  70

Total # of Lines:  7

Total # of Words:  61

Rhyme Sequence:  ababbcc

Meter:  Iambic Pentameter

Have no fear my dear friend in this grand life, For your actions should often be so bold; Courage is the answer to this life’s strife, And makes our dreams now so precious as gold; It's with time and thought we know and are told, Makes us always quite brave, stalwart and spry, And gives us sweet courage never to cry. Thanks Nette . . . I'm glad you liked this work. The words and the parsing of the meter had to work successfully together here. I've been swamped here on my end, but I will be checking out more of your works!! Have a great weekend!! Cheers, Gary

Matt, Thanks for your note. I will be checking your works out too. I'm behind in responses and correspondence with fellow poets. I discovered the Rhyme Royal format recently, which is most usually set in Iambic Pentameter and is set in a seven-line stanza rhyming ababbcc. I've adopted it. It's great to use!! Gary

Very true and honest advice in your excellent poem. The worst fear in life, is the fear itself.

Gry . . . You are quite right exactly with what you see. If one constantly lives in fear, how can one live honestly and boldly live?? I plan to take a read of your poems. I've been trying to get caught up (and to keep writing too)!! Best Always, Gary
