No Deeper

Words today fail me
My hurt left inside
Wrapped into red blanket
Suffocating to die
It would not work
Will it?
Not telling what pains
But how can I say it
When it’s an unfamiliar lane
I don’t know the end
Nor the start of this path
What has happened to me
To my heart
Why it hurts so much
For things unknown
I have not dared to see
What was shown
The fear shackles my skin
Rattles my bone
Why choose a companion
In the end you leave alone
Bitter taste of the truth
Lies on the tongue unfazed
A sting to remind
Reality in misty haze
Bottomless well of sorrow
It pulls you in fast
Dive no deeper than that
it is here to last.
