Notes About The Poem

This poem is an expression of my sentiments twenty years after that dreadful day of 9/11/2011

Nine Eleven Reflections

9/11/2021
Twenty years have past
The memories strong
The tears still flow

Yes, I’ve gone and mourned the site;
Placed a rose on an unknown name,
Placed a wreath on an unknown grave.

Yes, I’ve prayed for those lost souls.
Sowed hate in my heart,
Hoping it would pass.
Planted forgiveness in my soul,
Hoping it would grow

Yes, I still hate.
Yet, I still wonder why
I need a cloth to dampen my tears.
