Nighty-Night - For Contest

Nighty-Night

Somehow it seems
In all my dreams
There are open mouths
But never screams,
Eyes reflecting
Eerie sights
Never seen
In faintest light.

Motionless
The sounds unfold
While, falling, I
Have naught to hold.
Fear-frozen muscles
Cannot flee
The demons that
Have hold of me.

Alone I lay
In horror’s grip
Unable to re-route
The trip.
And when the demons
Go away
I must face
Another day

Fearing
That with twilight’s wane
The demons,
They may come again…..
