This poem disappeared, including all the lovely comments people left for me. I am putting it back up, but I am deflated.

The criss cross tracks with water filled Speak slender wheels on forest path In slalom travel through the trees In search of beach and ocean waves He pants, his hands around the rims Are dirty, mossy, blistered, red His head is filled with panicked thoughts For woods are dark, for trees are high They whisper, whistle, secretive Plant thoughts that turn to nightmares wild But round the next bend woods subside They shrink to bushes, undergrowth Behind a small dune sea sounds roar His teary breath sobs silently In him composure slowly grows For with the lifting of the veil The starry night smiles calm with love Behind the window of his room Where fear for forest has no place Where horror dims and disappears *** Iambic tetrameter May 18, 2017 Copyright © Darren White

the poem made me think of a little boy in his bed being read a scary bed time story - then he is all alone to hear the night and images - and the sounds of nature give way to panic (my imagination??)

I like your imagination. It makes me happy if you are able to make your own story with my poem, I love that :)

Hi Darren :) Missed the first time around but commenting now! I like the way you put the panicked thoughts in scattered array - makes for more impression. This is a great poem for being full circle with haunting trees and back to the peace of waves and room. <3

Hiya Darren. I'll start with the entry first. May the starry nights always be there. I can see why you were in a panic you were in the countryside (ha ha and lol) Find way to the ocean side (another ha ha and lol). This entry must be read slowly to capture the essence and its thoughts. As far as it disappearing somehow. Not good for the author or for the reviewer. Thank goodness you were able to re-post. An example of saving our work. This entry is so expressive Darren. Your skill shines and speaks. Have a wonderful afternoon. Stay well Penguin. Well done in its entirety in composition and construction.

This made me giggle with delight. And yes that panic in a nightmare always disappears at the ocean. Thanks Lisa :)

This is one of your best Darren! I am sorry your poem disappeared, but really a blessing it was not lost for good. Your nightmare seems so real as sometimes they make such an impression on the mind we never forget them. Nature calms the fears...This wouldn't be about the artist Van Gogh would it? Excellent! 7++ ; )

Hi Connie :) No, it's one of my own nightmares I tried to capture here. Thank you for the 7.

A harrowing experience you have us partake in, but I am glad you found the sea and her roaring scared the beast of fear away. I also love the way you bring us back to the safety of your room in the end. This is all brilliantly done. A fave w/me. I hope you are OK my friend:)This was written this morning, but I just realized for some reason it never went through Amitiés

Wow, that really sucks my friend. How on earth do these things happen on this site? Well, I for one didn't mind reading it again because like earlier, this is amazing. You have expressed your fears in this dark setting but allowed us to follow you into the light "where horror dims and disappears". I am sorry that the poem disappeared as well Darren.

I don't know how it happened, I had this happen once before, with a contest poem with two pages of comments I was very fond of. Thanks my friend, I am glad to have left the nightmare behind. and to have found the light.
