Nightmares
As I watch you peacefully sleep
I hope it's the sweetest of dreams you always do keep
I pray you never hear the words don't make a peep
I hope you don't struggle with demons and monsters that in your mind still linger lurk and creep
I hope you don't wake in pain from the teeth that you grind
Over traumatic events you couldn't hide from even if you were blind
Oh how I hope it's always thoughts of love and happiness that dance across your mind
I pray in your dreams it's a beautiful fairytale you always do find
I hope you don't wake screaming in your bed
I pray you never find yourself wishing you were dead
I hope you don't suffer from unwanted experiences that no matter what you do you can't escape inside your head
I pray your sleep always comes easy and doesn't become something you greatly lack and dread
I hope you don't wake with extra bruises looking like you got into a fight
Excessive restless struggling tossing and turning fighting with ghosts of the past in your sleep each night
It's a difficult burden to carry not one you can simply bury and certainly not an honor privilege or at all right
I pray your dreamcatcher always intercepts any and all nightmares and only the most optimistic of dreams always spark and ignite
