Nightmare

When waking hours feel
More like a nightmare than your dreams
When dark clouds are your everyday existence,
When fear is a constant companion
Wrapping her icy arms around your back
Do nightmares feel like a relief?
Are dream monsters a comfort compared
To the ones that are real?
Do you lay awake at night
Wondering,
Is anything real?
When will I wake up from this nightmare?
Do you cry out for help and realize
That everyone around you is asleep?
Trapped in their own nightmare
If you look really closely,
You can see their monsters rip at their skin
And Pull their hair.
If you listen even closer,
You can hear the screams.
