Nightlight
The early night caused my life to fade
The broken skylight kept me too awake
The chill deceived my mind
And I was too afraid to cry
The dying words that I had said
I traded care to lead myself to death
But I woke up once again
The nightlight called my name
The decision caught me out
I would try to twist and shout
But no one hears the things I say
Now the nightlight looks okay
I pierced the dark sky
I see through hatred’s lies
And now I cannot hide
I see the monsters eyes
There’s nothing to deceive
Only my memories
Only what I’ve seen
But the evidence is me
I wake to fade away
There’s nothing left to say
What’s in between will bring the day
But it’s only a nightlight for the pain
