New Year's Eve
in consideration ...
he let his breath out slowly
and with it, the last of a year best forgotten
it quickly froze upon the glass
the crystals winding like an angry serpent
with a dark iridescence
that reminded him of her eyes
it was a year ago that her pouty, plum bows
last pressed his in tender purpose
but that purpose
was to be the very last
and naught but the frozen farewell
that now formed before him
on the cold glass pane
he scratched her name in the frost with his fingernail
tasting it off its tip, eyes closed
and saying a prayer ...
for the precious moments lost
and time wasted.
