Notes About The Poem

12/27/2024 for New Year Old Wishes Poetry Contest sponsored by Craig Cornish

New Year - Old Wishes

Eons pass as our bright heavenly sphere
helps us count another year,
while wishes ascend like balloons
and are heard by a sorrowful moon:

To my child no harm will ever come,
to the toll of time I won't succumb,
that family and friends can too outrun
age, though dropping one by one;

that (s)he will love and accept me, for once,
for a remedy - the pain of love to blunt,
for health, happiness and lots of money,
that my future will always be sunny.

Mankind's hope will never cease
as every year we wish for peace.

We should always be grateful for what we have because many have nothing. It certainly brings you back to earth when you turn on the TV and see how others are suffering. Good luck in the contest David and hope 2025 brings you and your family good health and happiness. Tom
