New Moorings

Daddy, there are new moorings, come see!
There are shiny pontoon chains and cables,
braided ropes and colorful pennants.
The anchors and piles and buoys all new!

He arose groggily and without ambition
but allowed the boy to lead him to the quay
wherein he saw indeed, new moorings!
His heart quickened.

Badly needed, as the old were worn,
tattered, and so dangerous that ships
stayed their distance from this port
and steered further up the coast.

Work had dried with the rotted ropes,
his hope was lost to the receding waves.
Until today, when new moorings
renewed a deep faith that saves.

A good poem Linda. In life we all need new moorings to forge ahead. Our old ones, are of no use. We need open minds. Nut most are stuck in circles that no longer work.. Pamgie

Hey Pangie my friend. New moorings for me anytime! I don't want to be tethered to any one place for long. :)

Always a good idea to have new moorings if you want ships to dock in your port. Good luck, Linda.

Thanks Daniel. Julia cancelled the Moorings contest for lack of attention. Sad. I always enjoy her contests that ask for a stretch, or challenge.
