new candle

A long time ago, I was a teacher,
I walked into a tiny chapel,
I lit a candle so that a student could have her Baccalaureate,
She was of age, we were sharing some light,
Unfortunately, she didn’t get her exam,
every time I pass this chapel
I’m thinking of her, light a new candle.
We cannot forget ourselves.

A beautiful, fresh, and exciting poem. Oh, Yann, how profound. It's not everyone's fate, but I do not doubt that she has discovered her passions. Warm regards

Ahhh!! Creative remembrance. Thank you for sharing this one with us. This must be for a contest because I have seen several poems on the theme of candle or light. If for a contest, it reads like a good contender to me. Way to go. Sara K.
