Somehow these birds manage to "survive cold spring nights" and live to fill the world with their delightful songs. The mother bird is much like the human mother, always putting her children first. Lovely poem, Doris! I have been relocating and have not yet had a chance to welcome you to the Soup. Your work is a delightful addition. Lovely poem! Best wishes, Carolyn

Doris, Very nice Haiku. I visited West Virgina one spring and for the first time ever, saw blue birds visting a nesting box. Thus, this poem brings back fond memories. And I must say that when people say that someone "eats like a bird," implying that they only at a small amount, the phrase is deceiving. Birds eat non-stop, all day long!!!! I bet they eat more than a pig if you think about the ratio between intake and body size. LOL As you see, I enjoyed your charming poem. Lovingly, DAS-J
