Neighbour Tree

Send me to the river,
I will show you what let go is.
Send me to the ocean,
and I will show you where let go leads.
Send me a flower, and I will show you what love gives.
Send me a plant, and I will show you what love is.

You—
what you are, what you want,
is much more than a metaphor.

A treasure living deep under the ocean
the more you dig, the more you sink in sin.
Only when you are able to see something beyond you,
Lift your head up and look above, under the sky,
And there your eyes meet the tree—
the one that was always there beside you.

While you were searching all in the loop,
the treasure you were truly seeking
was quietly sleeping
in the arms of your neighbour tree

A reflective, spiritually resonant poem that moves beautifully through river, ocean, flower, plant, and finally the steadfast neighbour tree. The repeated “Send me” creates a prayer-like cadence, while the ending offers a quietly powerful realisation: what we seek in distant depths may have been patiently present beside us all along.
