Neighbor's Tree

NEIGHBOR’S TREE

Eye-catching in all seasons
They say talking to flowers helps them bloom resplendent
Yes resplendent that’s our neighbor’s tree
Perfectly shaped
So large so tall so wonderfully round
I talk to its crowd from afar like a garden festival of
                                                                            Flowers
But no words are needed

And the house which it fronts –
Like a bitter thought of Camille Pissaro
So large so old so cold so rundown
One might see the paint peel off in a high wind
Might want to shoulder-up the sagging front porch
A haven for down-and-outers stray cats

Yet all is saved
The tree
In summer – like an umbrella
In spring – a billion chattering buds
In fall its brilliant red outstrips all the most lavish
                                                     services in His name
and when winter comes she yet offers hope

This is really a terrific write about your neighbor's tree and how it brings beauty in all seasons, even offering hope in winter when the limbs are bare. Excellent poem, my friend. Love, Carolyn

Someone loved true beauty enough to plant that tree. I am glad you are there to appreciate it and to put it into words so that we may enjoy it too. Thank you for your kind words about my Farmer Joe. It is an absolutely true story about the wonderful man who was my dad and if I never write another worthy thing I will be proud of it. Love Joyce

Fantastic imagery had me holding my breath thinking, "Oh No! I hope they didn't cut her down" lol Beautiful, Daver...isn't it amazing how natural beauty remains even with age and decay around! I forget who wrote, "A thing of beauty is a joy forever......it will never pass into nothingness"! Love this too! Love, Audrey

I can see it all !!! You have given life to this old run down house, as if it is a lost and lonely soul.....but it hangs on to a thread of potential beauty in the brilliant tree that stands by with honor and glory! I do love this poem, Daver...we have a property near us with a huge old oak in front, that is so regal with beauty too...the house and the acreage sit in foreclosure.........forlorn and sad. We hope to see life there again soon.
