Needy Wants! They are so hard to handle. Everyone has one, even if they don’t want one. Some try to hide theirs, but it shows. I hate to be the bearer of bad news. What are they exactly? Hard to say. They show up in different ways… all the time. Disguised as unrest, colored in the corners… by regret, and disobedience. Yet, we put them back in the cage. Cornered for the moment. Work to pay the bills, our lives so rounded. Work to eat and sleep and work again. Is there no end? Dreams should be big, meaningful and above all… “attainable” to everyone to some degree. Not everyone is a singer, but we all sing. Not everyone is a lover, but we all long to love. When do you give in, to the willingness to live? When it is advantageous to the betterment of tomorrow. Until then work, and save for today, The future, is mine…(yours, ours) I have a need, but am not needy. I have a desire, but not unclean. I have a value set, that I wish to give… Payment is not necessary as my requirement(s) will then, be met by prayer. “Want”(s) will no longer be necessary, as I will be fulfilled.

A profound topic, Ann. Your verses wrestle with the true meaning of life, of the war between freedom and 'slavery,' of the soul vs. the body. Bravo, Poet! Thanks for the thought-provoker. Warmest wishes, Gershon

Hi Ann, a very well crafted poem - needy is really awkward, one tends to shy away from such people, but to need someone, means in fact that you love this person and need them in your life. Hugs and blessings, Jennifer.
