Nature and mind are out to brain us
If nature is out to kill us
With ice and heat or predators
The mind is even more diabolical
Killing us with AI and petroleum
Tell me if you believe in Global Warming
Or if you’re poking holes in Noah’s Ark
You're one of humanity's kamikaze drones
Suicide is Nature’s way of pruning
Leaving the most invasive to play
In the most insidious ways
Making us dependent on self-destruction
Earth nor the Corp will miss us
But the survivors will, or not
They’ll inherit our trauma spent
Like lovers parting ways
I hope they love differently
Instead of choosing which bridge
Which blade or which caliber
Or how others clean our aftermath
Not like soldier bees in love with a queen
Who fall like sakura softly
Not like slabs of pork thuddingly
Without agency, death is programmed
Finding yourself a meaty cog
Struggling against the code
Ground down to nubs till you give
Tossed to the binary smelter
Children of Abraham lose distinction
Chemical separation till
Finally we are one slab
Like Palestinians and Jews united
Like the slags from the Killing Fields
Only God knows your sacrifice
Wrestling with angels in the amalgam
Without social media to comfort you
To document your adventure
Between life and death
Choose life just because
Because you're human
Not a bee to a false queen
Gamble your life on the line
Only we are designed to roll dice
Even with one die
Even if the serpent cries
Missing an eye
Try against nature
Die another day
Just to roll one
To have won
Against death
