Nascent Observations
Altered perceptions
filtering through your mind
drip ... drip ... drip
Faulty neural connections
causes a skewered point-of-view
Fatalistic, telescopic lens
in which you now see the world through
Everything not right like it should be,
nothing observed is as it will be
One day the blind will see,
and those who say they see
will walk darkly
Various standards of living
are sold at fluctuating premiums
While your security insulation keeps getting
stripped ... stripped ... stripped
Poured all of your life savings
into a shredded government safety net
As the spouse of your youth
rakes your heart with sharp barbs of regret
Everything seems to be shifting,
nothing remains solid and clear
One day the deaf will hear,
and those who say they hear
will be given wax-filled ears
Then, in the dwindling dawn
of your utter despair,
a mysterious stranger appears
Telling you there comes a brighter day,
but you first need to earnestly pray
Which god will you appeal unto,
to get your message in a bottle of tears sent to
And as the man in the black sackcloth walks away,
his trailing last words you hear him say:
All of mankind live in God-forsaken nations,
so it’s best to keep wise, nascent observations
