Nana's Tribute Song

There's a famous old cliché, 
"Things will never be the same"
No words have rang truer
Since people stopped calling your name.
I think of all the "last times"
That I shared with you
And how we all supported each other
In the things that we went through.

Your candle burns bright
And will always glow
My heart will feel your warmth
Wherever I go.

Chorus:
Dear Nan I love you
And this love won't die
Until the last time
That I close my eyes...

Your intentions for Grandad
Was to nurse him til the end
Your soul mate, your husband
Your greatest friend.
But life threw a curveball.
Your time ended somehow,
So from there I decided
To help you complete your vow.
You promised each other,
"Til death do us part"
So Grandad still had support
From an entire heart.
If times had turned the way
You both expected them to,
You would not have walked alone,
I'd have stayed beside you.

Thank you for the joy you brought.
Thank you for being there.
Thank you for our shared humour,
For your love and care.
Thank you for the chats we had,
For the stories you told,
For your time and how you both felt
I kept you from getting old.
Because of you my life was rich.
We all made each other smile.
Through the tougher days we all
Helped life feel worthwhile.

I'm grateful that you were spared
From all the ache and sorrow
That nobody was prepared for
In these two years to follow.
Your example of resilience

Are qualities I try to live up to
