Nails

It was for you
The cross encumbered my shoulder
Walking in love
I lumbered to the top of Calvery
With undying certainty
It was for you
Sorrow clawed my face
Clutching my soul
Like a ravenous bird
My love forgiving
The nails carelessly hammered through
The hands reaching out to you

Love crucified

Still my heart melts within my breast
When I feel you close your heart
When I hear your empty words
Words like nails
Piercing the bone
Grieving me crucified

O my child,
Truth is love exemplified.

Your well penned words exemplify Jesus’ sacrifice for us so well, Barbara. Such love was shown to us as the spotless Lamb of God suffered on that cross for our sins. Great write!

Thank you Laura. Yes, I am in awe of the love Jesus has for us. I want to remember this daily so that my actions reflect my gratitude. The best way I can do this is to love my neighbor . Amen?
